COMMUNITY IMPACT THROUGH A HAPPY LITTLE INSTRUMENT - 8 YEARS & Counting

Community Church Ukulele Ministry Combines Six Generations Sharing the Joy of Music

The Community Church ukulele ministry started in the summer of 2016 under the direction of Pastor Scooter Ward.  The first Community Ukes performance was at Brookdale Destin on July 27, 2016.  What began as a small group of players desiring to minister to our area senior living and memory care facilities, has blossomed into
TWO ukulele groups with a vibrant ministry to THREE area facilities.

This group has cycled over 188 different players spanning SIX Generations!
We have several new members joining us in August!

***UKULELE MINISTRY ON SHORT BREAK 'TIL MID-AUGUST***
Our ukulele groups will be on a short break after the July 25th outreach to Brookdale Destin.  In the latter half of August 2024, we will offer beginner/refresher classes for
new and returning students (see schedule below).
We will resume regular rehearsals/performances after Labor Day..

COMMUNITY UKES (UKULELE GROUP #1)
This ukulele group is open to all adults and intermediate/advanced kid players.  Students are taught how to play the ukulele and are expected to practice weekly and perform monthly for both Brookdale and Watercrest Memory Care Facilities.
The group rehearsals will resume on September 4th at 10am CDT at
Community Church (upstairs).

COMMUNITY UKESTERS (UKULELE GROUP #2)
This ukulele group is open to all ages, but it is primarily made up of older elementary children (students younger than 2nd grade are permitted into the group on a case-by-case basis, and it is especially helpful if they are able to read). Students are taught how to play the ukulele and are expected to practice weekly and perform monthly at the Somerby Memory Care Facility.  The group classes meet upstairs on Mondays 3:30-4:30pm at Community Church during the regular school year until Spring Break. Parental support is expected for crowd control (rotational) and for transportation to performances.
The group rehearsals will resume on September 9th at 3:30pm CDT at
Community Church (upstairs).

Anyone interested in becoming a part of our ukulele ministry, please contact Pastor Scooter using the form (below).  Class sizes are limited and open on a first come, first served basis at the beginning of the school year and/or new calendar year.
