Leadership

Dr. Squires became Senior Pastor of Community Church in August of 2020. He earned his M.A. in Church History from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and his Th.M. and Th.D. in Historical theology from Boston University. His research emphasis was Luther and Reformation theology. Steve has been married to his wife Melissa for 28 years. They have two daughters, Hannah and Josephine (Josie). Dr. Squires calls Freeport home. In his spare time Steve loves to watch sports, play guitar, listen to music, and read. Within ministry his passions are discipleship and outreach. 

Dr. Ward became our Associate Pastor in April of 2016.  He earned a B.A. in Theology from Southeastern Bible College in Birmingham, Alabama, and received his commission as an officer in the United States Air Force where he served on active duty for nearly ten years as an air battle manager on the E-3 Sentry (AWACS). A decorated combat veteran, Scooter also received an M.A. in Christian Studies and an M.Div. from Luther Rice Seminary in Lithonia, Georgia, and a Doctor of Worship Studies degree from the School of Music at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia.  He also volunteers on the board of  Gulf Cemetery Association as vice president to assist in management and upkeep of the Historic Gulf Cemetery in Santa Rosa Beach.  Scooter and his wife, Amy, have been married for over twenty-one years and currently reside in Freeport, Florida. They both enjoy spending time with family, playing card games, swimming, and walking.  When the opportunity presents itself, Scooter loves performing with his big band, Cloud 9 Orchestra, where he creatively shares the Gospel through music in patriotic and Christmas outreach events. He also leads two ukulele orchestras weekly at the church, and they perform monthly as an outreach ministry to three local memory care facilities. 

Nicole became Community Church’s Director of Family Ministries in June of 2022. She earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees through a 5-year program at Stevenson University in Owings Mills, MD. Originally from New Jersey, she now calls Destin home. She loves reading, cooking, sitting on the beach, and watching football (Go Eagles!). After seeing the positive impact her church upbringing has had on her life, she feels called to help provide the same opportunity for others. She is passionate about planning fun events for children and youth while incorporating true and important messages about the Gospel to carry them through their lives.
