WHAT ARE WE BUILDING?
We are building a two-story 7,500 square foot addition to the church.
FOR WHAT WILL IT BE USED?
It will provide class/meeting rooms for Sunday school and preschool activities, and for a variety of youth, family, and community oriented outreach programs.
WHY ARE WE BUILDING IT?
We are currently using every available space on Sunday morning for Sunday school and worship activities. Sunday school classes are metting in offices. The choir must warm up in the sanctuary becasue we are using the choir room for adult Sunday school. Our weekly and monthly meetings must be adjusted due to the success of the preschool. Our mission to the community is severely limited by space constraints. This is truly A TIME TO BUILD.
HOW MUCH WILL THIS ADDITION COST?
it will cost approximately $1,200,000. The building plans are out for bids and the permitting process has begun. With God’s will, ground breaking will be in mid-2010.
HOW WILL WE PAY FOR IT?
Approximately $300,000 is currently available for this project. The balance will be raised through this Capital Stewardship Campaign. As part of this Campaign we seek pledged donations from members, payable over a three year period.
WILL I BE PRESSURED TO MAKE A PLEDGE?
No! Participation in the campaign and how much you give will be entirely up to you. All members of the church family will be given the opportunity to contribute if they wish to do so.
HOW MAY I PREPARE TO PARTICIPATE?
Allow God to speak to you through prayer. Read Scripture passages that speak about stewardship, such as 1 Corinthians 16:2, Proverbs 11:25, Proverbs 3:5-9, 2 Corinthians 8:7, Acts 20:35, Luke 6:38, and Palms 116:12.
IF I CAN’T GIVE A LARGE AMOUNT, DOES MY PLEDGE REALLY MATTER?
Absolutely! All pledges matter, regardless of the amount. As we all participate according to our ability. God multiplies our giving.
WHEN ARE WE EXPECTED TO GIVE THE AMOUNT PLEGED?
Pledge cards will be turned in on Commitment Sunday, and pledges will begin to be received shortly thereafter. you may pay your entire pledge in one contribution, or you may spread it out over the three year period. Pledges can be paid by cash or check. Other forms of contribution can include marketable stocks, bonds, real estate, etc.
MAY I UPDATE MY COMMITMENT AFTER COMMITMENT SUNDAY?
Yes! You may update your commitment at any time.
DOES ONE HAVE TO BE A CHURCH MEMBER TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CAMPAIGN?
No! Participating in the campaign is a personal decision for each of us, and anyone may contribute to God’s work in our church.
In order for the Community Church to continue to grow, and to fulfill its mission to the community, we must expand our facility as God expands His Kingdom. We must be faithful to use His resources to do whatever is necessary to help build the kingdom. Our church has launched a Capital Stewardship Campaign entitled A TIME TO BUILD to aid us in preparing for this exciting challenge. Construction of an addition to the church will reach many people. We will have the space to move forward with our outreach to the community, so that they might hear the loving and saving message of Jesus Christ.
